Review: FSX LHSimulations - BUDAPEST LISZT FERENC LHBP V1.01
If you are looking for a realistic and detailed scenery of Hungary's biggest airport, you might want to check out FSX LHSimulations - BUDAPEST LISZT FERENC LHBP V1.01. This scenery covers the airport and its surroundings with high resolution photoreal textures, custom 3D buildings, seasonal variations, animated vehicles and more.
Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (formerly known as Ferihegy Airport) is the main gateway to Hungary's capital city and a hub for several European airlines. It has two parallel runways and four terminals, including the modern SkyCourt that connects terminals 2A and 2B. The airport handles over 16 million passengers and 120,000 aircraft movements per year.
FSX LHSimulations - BUDAPEST LISZT FERENC LHBP V1.01 is a scenery add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX) and Prepar3D (P3D) that aims to recreate the airport in its current state. The scenery features:
High resolution photobackground covering the airport and the close vicinity of the airport
Seasonal textures of background and custom (no default) vegetation for all 4 seasons
Airport's taxiway/gate/parking stand layout represents accurately the current status
Custom textured taxiways, runways and aprons
Very accurate projection of the taxilines and markings in high resolution
Custom 3D runway edgelights, taxilights, touch down zone lights, approach light poles
Custom light system at the whole airport, no default light system is used
Buildings are accurately modelled with optimized resolution
The inside of the SkyCourt (Main terminal, T2) is modelled (you can see through the window)
Reflection (glass) and bump (normal map or depth map) textures are used in FSX for the best appearance
"Baked" shadows on the textures for realistic lighting effects
During winter the building's roofs will be covered with snow
The aviation museum close to the final of rwy 31L is modelled by Tibor Kókai
All published approaches will be created in the AFCAD file, means all RNAV, ILS, VOR, NDP approaches will be available in the default FS GPS/GNS
Automatic season change for vegetation, photobackground and building's roof
Animated vehicles on the aprons
Completely automatic installation
To use this scenery, you need to have a license key that you can purchase from simMarket for 9.99 EUR. The license key will allow you to download all versions of the scenery for FS2004, FSX(SE), P3D v1-v5. The download size is about 1.5 GB and the installation is very easy and user-friendly.
I have tested this scenery on FSX with SP2 and I was very impressed by the quality and performance of it. The airport looks very realistic and immersive, especially at night with the custom lighting system. The textures are crisp and detailed, and the buildings are well modelled and textured. The photobackground blends well with the default or third-party landclass and mesh, and the seasonal variations add more realism to the scenery. The airport is also very frame rate friendly, I did not notice any significant impact on my system.
The only minor issue I found was that some of the static aircrafts at the gates were floating above the ground or sinking into it. This might be due to some elevation differences between the scenery and FSX or some AFCAD conflicts. However, this did not affect my enjoyment of the scenery and it might be fixed in a future update.
In conclusion, I highly recommend FSX LHSimulations - BUDAPEST LISZT FERENC LH 061ffe29dd
