How to Use XTV Suite 5.8.6 for Professional TV Broadcast Automation
XTV Suite 5.8.6 is a complete set of software tools for TV broadcast automation that manages video playout, capture, trimming, scheduling and more. It is designed to provide a universal format compatibility, a user-friendly interface and a scalable structure for TV stations, satellite channels, cable TV, web TV, CCTV and other video applications.
In this article, we will show you how to use XTV Suite 5.8.6 for professional TV broadcast automation in a few simple steps.
Step 1: Install XTV Suite 5.8.6 on your PC
To install XTV Suite 5.8.6 on your PC, you need to download the software from the official website of Axel Technology, the developer of XTV Suite. You can choose between the software-only version or the software-hardware bundle that includes a video card and a dongle. The software requires Windows XP or higher and at least 4 GB of RAM.
After downloading the software, run the setup file and follow the instructions on the screen. You will need to enter the activation code that you received from Axel Technology or from your reseller. Once the installation is complete, you can launch XTV Suite 5.8.6 from the desktop icon or the start menu.
Step 2: Configure XTV Suite 5.8.6 for your video input and output
XTV Suite 5.8.6 supports various video input and output formats, such as SDI, NDI, IP, UDP, RTMP, HLS, RTSP and more. You can configure your video input and output settings from the XConfig tool that is included in XTV Suite 5.8.6.
To access XConfig, click on the X icon on the top left corner of XTV Suite 5.8.6 and select XConfig from the menu. You will see a window with several tabs that allow you to adjust different parameters of your video input and output.
For example, you can select your video card type and model from the Video Card tab, choose your video format and resolution from the Video Format tab, set your audio channels and volume from the Audio tab, enable or disable graphic overlay from the Graphics tab, and so on.
You can also test your video input and output from the Test tab by clicking on the Test button and viewing the preview window. Once you are satisfied with your settings, click on Save to apply them.
Step 3: Create and edit your playlist with XPlayout
XPlayout is the main tool of XTV Suite 5.8.6 that allows you to create and edit your playlist for video playout. You can access XPlayout by clicking on the P icon on the top left corner of XTV Suite 5.8.6.
You will see a window with three main sections: the playlist section on the left, where you can add, remove and rearrange your video clips; the preview section on the right, where you can view your video clips; and the control section on the bottom, where you can play, pause, stop and control your playlist.
To create a new playlist, click on File > New Playlist or press Ctrl+N on your keyboard. You can then add video clips to your playlist by clicking on File > Add Clip or pressing Ctrl+O on your keyboard. You can browse your PC or network folders and select any video file that is compatible with XTV Suite 5.8.6, such as DV, HDV, MPEG-2, DVD, DIVX, MPEG-4, M-JPEG, MPEG-1, H.264, QuickTime, MXF etc.
You can also add live sources to your playlist by clicking on File > Add Live Source or pressing Ctrl+L on your keyboard. You can choose from any live source that is connected to your PC or network, such as VTRs, switchers, cameras etc.
Once you have added your video clips or live sources to your playlist, you can edit them by using the tools on the toolbar above the playlist section.
